This publication documents the second presentation of Instants ruraux (a residency and series of temporary installations on the theme of the rural, organized by 3e Impérial and presented in 1998-99). The text by Ronald & Richard provides a playful account of projects by S. Cotton, C. Varady-Szabo, BGL, C. Saëz and F. Rod. Grande’s essay focuses on how notions of “rural landscape” and “the rural” are addressed by the artists. Pelletier discusses the relevance of each project, and suggests their significance extends beyond their interventionist form. Includes an interview by D. Alain and Y. Gendreau with the president of Solidarité rurale du Québec, Jacques Proulx (topics discussed include: land occupation and the impact of contemporary arts on the rural environment). Grande’s text in English only; all other texts in French. Brief biographical notes on authors, interviewers and interviewee. 15 bibl. ref.
