Biography

Pedro Barbáchano is an artist based in Montréal. In his research and photographic work, he observes speculative archaeology, questions historical records, and reframes monuments. His publications, installations, and exhibitions have been presented in Spain, Egypt, and Canada (including at Artexte, the Canadian Centre for Architecture, the Leonard and Bina Ellen Art Gallery and The New Gallery). He has received awards such as the Claudine and Stephen Bronfman Fellowship in Contemporary Art and the Roloff Beny Fellowship, as well as support from the Canada Council for the Arts. He has lectured at Concordia University and contributed to public programming at the Canadian Centre for Architecture.
