Biography

Meagan Musseau (Mazoo) is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily with the mediaof basketry, beadwork, sculpture, video, and land-based performance. She is of Mikmaq and French ancestry from Corner Brook, Bay of Islands, Newfoundland and Labrador (Elmastukwek, Ktaqmkuk territory of Mikmaki). She works with natural and synthetic materials as a way to interweave expressions of adaptation, continuation, and resilience into the creation of art. As Ktaqmkukewaq Lnu, she explores themes of kinship, harvesting, empowerment, and connections to land and water. Her practice has grown out of a commitment to creating and sharing her work through artist talks, workshops, residencies, and exhibitions.
