Fanny Basque, is a queer, mad, White settler artist originally from the Acadian Peninsula in so-called New Brunswick. Oscillating between intimate documentary research and political poetic experimentation, her work is very much compelled by all that is mysterious and kept hidden in the deepest parts of ourselves; she uses fear, secrets, and shame as artistic guidelines. Her multidisciplinary approach incorporates photography, video, and writing and is inspired by the countless stories that surround and inhabit her. Basque holds a BFA in photography from Concordia University. She currently lives and works in Rimouski.
