This first monograph devoted the Montreal-based artist covers an eight year cycle during which Alain Benoit created an extraordinary diverse oeuvre around one central theme, that of the Fat Man. This one thematic is explored through video, installation, painting and particularly sculpture. Essays look at Benoit's practice especially as it distinguishes itself from work of other artists concerned with hyper-realistic representation, such as Ron Mueck.
