The story of an interactive sculpture which printed small philosophical, playful and spiritual texts on thermal paper. These short texts were all written by the public via the website Kortunefookie.com, and were then “uploaded” into the database of the Mac mini located inside the pixelated sculpture. The initial intention was to create a communication object that would allow people to broadcast messages in public. It was only after a long personal reflection and brainstorming sessions with my research assistant at the time, Christian Desjardins, that the idea of invoking the fortune cookie appeared. The concept was simple, use a known object image in order to offer a direct understanding of the gesture to be performed and thus allow the creation of a new meeting space inserted into everyday places. In a word, create a new social form. The idea of using Web 2.0 as a source for texts emerged naturally; the Web allowed anyone, anywhere to participate in the project. - Artist's website (https://kortunefookie.myportfolio.com/)
