The contemporary japanese art scene
This is the catalogue for the exhibition Art/ Ecosystem: The Contemporary Japanese Art Scene which attempts to capture the relation of nature and human creative activities. The show is organised around the theme of 'A Tale of Four Forests,' under which artworks are categorised into four sub-topics: 'At the Edge of the Forest,' 'Growth/ Proliferation,' 'Purification/ Circulation,' and 'Restoration/ Back to the Edge of the Forest.' A critical essay written by Arata Tani, which discusses the exhibition and the possibility to make connections between nature and arts can be found in the catalogue. Biographies and Bibliographies of the participating artists, also the list of the exhibited works are included.
Available in paper format only.
