Houellebecq and Apollinaire“ is an ongoing series of texts and drawings that started in January 2015. All drawings and the handwritten text are put on paper, scanned and stay unedited in the postproduction. In total there are six single comic strips encompasing five pictures each. These contain the philosophical remarks of the two main characters Michel Houellebecq and Guillaume Apollinaire. Topics, as The Fragment Theory or the Dispute between Painting and Sculpture are mixed with popcultural references and elements of trash literature. The two literates serve as examples for the failed humanists of the 20th-, and the resigned post-humanists of the 21st century. In each episode they are faced with unexpected situations, being challenged over their former presumptions. Within that framework they don’t operate as autonomous characters, but rather as carriers and placeholders for (art-) theoretical reflections.
