Throwback to our F25 public presentations

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who braved the autumn darkness to attend our public presentations last Thursday, highlighting artists from the Wabanaki Confederacy. The evening opened with a beautiful traditional welcome song, offered in unison by our residents: Ivanie Aubin-Malo, Janna Nicholas and Catherine Desjardins. Ivanie then spoke about her role as curator of the residency, emphasizing the importance of these gatherings between different members and creators of the Confederacy.

We were then invited to discover the birchbark works of Janna Nicholas — powerful reflections of the central role that nature and animals play in Wolastoqey culture.

Catherine Desjardins shared her inspiring journey as a singer-songwriter, along with her deep commitment to teaching the Wolastoqey language.

Finally, Ivanie returned to close the evening by presenting her ongoing work, including the creation of a giant women’s basin.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for joining us for this memorable evening — one filled with connection, listening, and the sharing of knowledge.
