Launch of the Interstice seminars

Est-Nord-Est is pleased to announce a new addition to its regular programming: the Interstice seminars. 

This new initiative for the centre’s members arose from our desire to offer an alternative site for the production and transmission of learning, without hierarchy among various types of knowledge. Therefore, each year we will invite guests who, with collaborators from a variety of domains, will lead seminars around predetermined subjects within which theory and practice are intertwined. 

Designed for small groups of pre-registered people, the seminars aim to draw on the energy of the pivotal moment in the research process when an idea arises but hasn’t yet taken a fixed shape. It is in this interstice, simmering with questions, that we can keep moving and bring different disciplinary fields into interaction to create new connections. 

In keeping with our mission, we hope to encourage simultaneous exploration of discourse and technique so that original points of view emerge. We aspire to support research methodologies both scientific and creative, both traditional and contemporary, without performance- or result-oriented pressure. Our objective is for research to be seen not as exclusive to the field of higher education but as a tool available to everyone who wants to do things together. 

Registration

• The seminars will be accessible to the centre’s members. 
• There will be a charge for the seminars. The cost will be the same for all membership categories. 
• Registrations will be first come, first served, depending on the number of spots available. There will be no selection process. 

Lodging

• Active members and artist-researchers may rent a studio to they can stay at the centre during the seminar period at the usual rate on the advantages list. 

Programming

• The Interstice seminars will begin in summer 2025! We’re already busy planning the program and we’re eager to share it with you!
