Registrations – Interstice: Ramifications

For the second edition of the Interstice seminar, we are pleased to collaborate with artist Eve Tagny (Tiohtià:ke / Mooniyang / Montreal), who will serve as a mentor. Under the theme Ramifications, the seminar will take place from Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Est-Nord-Est.

Drawing from her multidisciplinary artistic practice—where the body and its gestures hold a central place—Eve Tagny explores spiritual and embodied expressions of resilience, in resonance with the cycles and materiality of nature. From this perspective, the artist will lead activities and discussions to spark reflection on the fragmentation and privatization of land, colonial relationships to the environment and labor, and the processes of natural resource extraction.

The artist and participants will also have the opportunity to meet local collaborators to further enrich the conversation.

Eve Tagny is a Tiohtià:ke/Montreal-based artist. Her practice considers gardens and disruptedlandscapes as mutable sites of personal and collective memory — inscribed in dynamics of power, colonial histories and their legacies. Weaving lens-based mediums, installation, text and performance, she explores spiritual and embodied expressions of grief and resiliency, in correlation with nature’s rhythms, cycles and materiality. Tagny has a BFA in Film Production from Concordia University and a Certificate in Journalism from University of Montreal. Recent exhibitions and screenings include Westfälischer Kunstverein and Biennale for Freiburg, Germany; Henry Art, Seattle; Ames Yavuz and PHOTO Australia, Australia; Murate and Gucci Gardens, Italy; MNBAQ, MAJ, Momenta Biennale, MAC Montréal and Centre Clark, Montreal; VAC, Cooper Cole, Gallery 44, and Franz Kaka, Toronto, . She has done live performances at the Swiss Institute, NYC; C.CAP, Winnipeg; Nuit Blanche 2023, Cooper Cole and Gallery 44, Toronto. She has been longlisted for the Sobey Award 2024, is the recipient of a GOG Award (2023), the Plein Sud Bursary (2020), the Mfon grant (2018), has been shortlisted for the Prix en art actuels MNBAQ (2023), Gala Dynastie (2023, 2025), CAP Prize (2018), the Burtynsky Photobook Grant (2018), the GOG Award (2020) and longlisted for the New Generation Photography Award (2022).

Catherine Bélanger and Dave Bernard, owners of La Ferme des Pensées Sauvages, will welcome us to their land, where they have been cultivating a wide variety of vegetables and herbs since 2008. They will share their passion for organic farming and the living ecosystem with which they work and learn—a co-creative approach with the surrounding natural environment. Participants will be invited to get their hands in the soil during a collective farm task. This hands-on moment will encourage dialogue around seasonal rhythms, ecological growing methods, and the tangible relationship between physical labor and the food we consume.

Julien Mongeau, co-founder of A&J Métissage, will join the group at the center to share his practice of gathering and processing local wild clays. Through a workshop focused on the discovery of this living material, participants will explore the different stages of clay transformation and be invited to handle it intuitively and creatively. This session will open space for collective reflection on respectful and responsible ways of working with natural materials sourced from the land.
